So im playing with making videos using my camera and the newly discovered imovies on my macbook. Im not yet sure how to open the .avi files to imovie to edit, add texts and etc. Imovie is saving movies in .m4v format and camera is .avi format. I can upload both formats to youtube with no problem but i did notice that the .avi movies are loading way faster.

So as soon as I got the money, i went ahead and ordered taz, retin-a, 3 tubes of finacea and differin. I wasnt sure which to start with. I started with finacea for a few days but i was scared of purging and it stung so BAD. So being a chicken, i got on retin a. 2 weeks later, i added differin so ive been alternating with retin-a and differin. I dont think differin is doing anything so im going to get back on finacea. I did some more research on MUA skin board and tried applying it 30 mins after wahsing my face and making sure my face is completely dry. Then i applied a VERY thin layer.

I also got off my BCP so ill be expecting to break out sometime soon. I will start using retin a maybe on sundays and thursdays then use finacea every other day.

Oh i changed my driver’s license address today. Ive never changed it and ive moved like 5 times. Also, i took a new pic and they didnt charge me. YAY

So i have been looking for the Kate Spade Kristen since like, november. I have the grey Kamerons and love them and the Kristen was definitely more versatile. I have looked EVERYWHERE including ebay. Someone finally put them on sale on ebay so i definitely grabbed them. I also got my phone last week and got the Pikolinos Delhi finally :)

SE P1i

I decided to invest in my skin so i bought the green cream and diacneal. I used the green cream for a week and i just started the diacneal today. I hope i dont get a really bad purging cos a lot of people have experienced it. So far so good, i like the Kinerase skin moisture light and the Dudleys moisturizer for hair.

Miscellanous 2:11 am

On impulse, while shopping at Lenox, i dropped by the Apple store and ended up getting a Macbook. It was only 100 more than the used ones were going for on ebay. The student discount definitely helped. One problem though….i got home and the charger wouldnt work so i have to take it back
tomorrow to see if they can replace or just do something about it! I also bought these things:

1. P1i:

cant wait to get it in the mail
2. Avene diacneal
3. Kinerase skin care moisture light
4. Green cream
I plan to alternate between the diacneal and green cream. Ive heard about people purging from the
diacneal and no, i cant let that happen because i dont want to risk getting spots. The green cream is more expensive though so i hope the diacneal works. lol
5. These circa joan and david shoes. Im not sure if i will keep them. Im still looking for either the Kate
Spade Kristen or Kameron..

I will take pics of the Macbook when i get back from there tomorrow.

ETA: Just ordered the cleanser, BP and moisturizer from acne.org

MiscellanousJanuary 22, 2008 6:35 pm

Hopefully, i will be posting more pics of goodies like this within the next few days. I got these Burberry ballerina flats today and i cant wait to break them in

I also bought a Px foundation powder because i hate my Dior….Its the Prescriptives ‘AnyWear’ Multi-Finish Compact Foundation SPF 12. Its nice that it has spf. I hope it doesnt turn red or ashy or pasty but we shall see. I dont really need a powder but i kinda because i dont like wearing liquid fdn to class and i want sth i can take everywhere with me.
Here’s the description:
Wear it your way. Customize your look for every occasion with this multi-finish powder foundation. Wear it wet for a sheer velvety finish or dry for a fuller, natural matte finish. Use a little for medium coverage, a little more for full. Long-wearing yet light on the skin, it hides imperfections, stays color-true, wears comfortably all day long. Oil-controlling.

I also caved and ordered these from shescentit.com

Things slowed down a lot at work until someone quit last week so now we have to pick her shift! It snowed yesterday I didnt take pics because i was worried about getting home safely. Im taking 16 hours of classes and that includes Statistics, Accounting and History classes so im kinda reaching my limit. I hadnt bought make up in a while so i bought 2 MAC glitters from the Originals collection. The transparent teal and antique gold. I was going to buy parrot eyeshadow but it was sold out so i will wait for the manager of the counter to see if she has any at home. I might end up buying 2 from her since its so popular.

I have been trying to buy at least one piece of clothing every week so my wardrobe has increased a little bit. I did get rid of about 20 pairs of jeans a month ago!

My hair has been giving me problems. I know i caused it….with all the
flat ironing with my chi that doesnt have a temp control and relaxing
every month *cringes*. So i guess its pay back time. I was so mad
last night and decided to chop off the dead ends. Last trim was
before i got braids last year so this time, i cut off the ends with
no worries about retaining length. It feels better now and
no breakage so far. I will probably do an emergencee treatment
and which reminds me, i need to stock up on joice k-pak and V05
conditioners for CO—washing (yep, still doing that).

My skin also went psycho on me. Like today, i had 3 huge zits on
my chin and it was sooo painful. I slathered on Aztec healing clay,
left for an hour, dug up Paula’s choice 2% BHA liquid and applied on
the whole chin area then applied clearasil 10% BP. No mo pain!! I
have been using Ambi even and clear moisturizer with sunscreen
but i dont think its doing anything so i did some more research and
will be trying Kinerase. After reading reviews on productville, i got
a sample of the clear skin moisture light from work. Ill use it for a
week and get the bottle if i like the results. My lancome teint idole
ultra is nearly finished. That is the first time i have ever hit bottom
on a foundation and i will definitely buy another one.

I think its time to re-vamp my skin regimen

Morning:
Wash with purpose cleanser
Tone with witch hazel
Apply Paula’s choise 2% BHA
Apply moisturizer mixed with shiseido spf 33 lotion

Evening:
Wash with purpose
Tone
Apply whatever treatment im in the mood for. either BP, maxi peel or jan marini gel.

Im still using nature’s cure pills btw.

I have not bought shoes in a LONG time because i was waiting for the transition. I have found what i want though:

And a pair of black patent burberry flats from last year.

The Great Debaters
By
Victoria Alexander
FilmsInReview.com

Noble, brilliant suit-wearing Negros fight for equality in racist Texas circa 1935. All the white people are toothless, evil pig farmers. Denzel insults his white audience with caricatures.

I wasn’t going to review “The Great Debaters” knowing full well the ugly emails I would get. If I don’t like a movie made by or about black people, I’m a racist; I didn’t like “Rent,” so I’m homophobic; and only the Lord and I know what happens when I don’t like the “underdog team makes good” sports movie.

But no group out-ranks the LOTR army.

DISCLAIMER: I leave for my 7th trip to the continent of Africa next week. And, just so you know, I don’t do Africa behind a big white air-conditioned bus. I camp out with the people. I know more about African culture from first-hand, feet on the ground experience then all my black neighbors and friends put together.

While I hope to go to Central Africa (Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso) next year, I must pass up visiting the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rebel factions are notorious for attacking Western tourists. In 1998, foreigners were kidnapped and in 1999, a group of Western tourists was kidnapped and savagely hatched to death by rebels. Tourism to DRC is ill-advised.

This now said, let me also say that my critic colleagues encouraged me to write what they are afraid to write about “The Great Debaters,” even though they agree with me.

You’d think that when a top star directs, he’s got all the right support staff behind him. He’s watched and learned from great directors, he knows all about pacing and structure. He should know how to direct actors. “The Great Debaters” is poorly directed. All the acting is over-the-top. I’ve never seen a film with more sanctimonious, flaring nostrils, noble-faced actors. This is high school drama class directing. Everybody in “The Great debaters” is playing to the back row.

If you forgotten the cruel fight for equality, director and star Denzel Washington wants to shove it right back in your face. Denzel’s huge fan base might have either not known or forgotten America’s ugly past, so here it is. There is even a lynching.

What is Denzel Washington so bitter about? Julie Roberts, in her Vanity Fair cover story, continues to lust after him. He’s one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Why the grudge? Get some therapy!

Its 1935 and Wiley College’s Professor Melvin B. Tolson is the coach of the debating team. He’s also a poet and secret union organizer. When does he teach? A classroom full of students want to join the debating team, so Professor Tolson must whittle down all the top students to a four-member team. He chooses Hamilton Burgess (Jermaine Williams) and arrogant Henry Lowe (Nate Parker). The two alternates are fiery feminist Samantha (Jurnee Smollett) and 14-year-old James Farmer Jr. (Denzel Whitaker).

Tolson is a fire-and-brimstone coach. Young James is the son of a strict preacher (Forest Whitaker) and, even though he is a brilliant student, he is given no slack. James Farmer Jr. grew up and founded the Congress of Racial Equality.

Tolson, dressed as a sharecropper and organizing the poor folk, comes to the attention of the mean town sheriff (John Heard). James follows Tolson to a union meeting and sees a lynching.

This is Texas in 1935 from director Washington’s point of view: Barely dressed, cud-chewing white pig farmers, racist sheriffs and deputies, and snotty, elite Harvard.

Tolson keeps applying and finally gets an invitation from Harvard to debate! Because of his union-organizing activities, he is unable to go with his team to Boston. The Wiley Debating Team suddenly loses Hamilton when his father questions Tolson alleged communist sympathies. At Harvard, the man who serves the trio their meals and attends to them is a classically trained, highly educated, well-dressed Negro.

I had no idea that college debating was so boring. You will agree with me.

How can one criticize “The Great Debaters” without looking like a mean-spirited racist? I also know how popular attending debating teams are with the movie-going public, so let me suggest you see the movie first before emailing me.

Victoria’s weekly column, “The Devil’s Hammer,” is posted every Monday. The Devil’s Hammer on FTB. If you would like to be included on my distribution list for a weekly preview, just email me at masauu@aol.com.

I went home for Christmas and it was fun. Then we went to see I am Legend. When i was leaving, my mom packed food and sent me back to my place. lol. She also wrote me a check to buy a space heater .

I havent on here in a while. Busy with work and still busy. The Men’s half yearly sale starts tomorrow and i have to be at work early.

Here’s my wishlist for January:

L-glutathione supplements for my skin
New sony ericsson cell phone
Macbook or any other Mac laptop
Rosance X20 for skin if what im using stops working or if i take a break from it
Kinerase Clear skin moisture light – $75

MiscellanousDecember 13, 2007 9:17 pm

Eh so i took my last final of the year yesterday. yay. Ive been busy with work and next week will be really really busy because my department will be having a sale. That will keep my mind occupied while making money. Not sure what i’ll be doing for christmas. Maybe go to the family’s place again or somewhere else. I dont really care. Newyears ill be the big celebration. Oh i moved out. I now live in the Cascade area. A couple is renting out some rooms in their big house and the rent and arrangement is a good deal.

MiscellanousNovember 21, 2007 6:46 pm

So i have a lot of stuff to update. As you know, i now work in Men’s shoes. Its cool and not as many returns. My co-worker was helping a lady and i jumped into the conversation as usual. Turns out she’s from SA and her husband is Columbian. She asked for my age, what i was doing in school and bla bla bla. And she said her hubby worked in a Finance firm. She took my cell phone number and i forgot about it. Next thing i know, lik a few days later, she calls me to set up an appointment. The day before the appointment, she called and asked me to dress professional so i was like sure. When she said that, i updated and resume and took it with me. Come to find out it was an interview and guess what? They hired me as an intern This happened yesterday and im still in shock. It is a paid internship and i have to take some Finance exams and actually get my BA before they can hire me but it is a great way to meet people, gain experience, move up in my field and make MORE money

I have not bought any shoes lately because I have been too broke and busy. I spent 300 bucks to fix some sound my car was making and i will be moving out on the 1st of December to a place off campbelton road. A lady who owns a HUGE house is renting out a furnished room and she provides the paper towels, soap and toilet paper. LOL. I just found that really funny. It makes sense because i remember when i had my own place and barely had money, i would steal TP from work emoticon

Its like 20 minutes from work, 30 from school and FAR from home. LMAO.

I will be making Jollof rice and friend plantains to take to the family’s thanksgiving dinner so i hope that turns out well. On friday, i will go and fix the trafficator switch on my car, finalize paperwork for the new job and im also working at Nordies from 7.30 fucking AM. So no good friday shopping for me.

That didnt stop me because today was the last day of the Sephora friends and family online special so i ordered some stuff. I havent bought make up in a while since i lost that MAC eyeshadow….well except Lash Blast because of raves from MUA.

I ordered:
Stila Smoky Eye Palette: The Emeralds

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P173010&searchString=Stila%20Smoky%20Eye%20Palette

I think it gives instructions when you open it. I can see it being annoying so i will take out the
battery or whatever is making it talk.

Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box:

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P194718&searchString=Urban%20Decay%20Deluxe%20Shadow%20Box#

The main reason why i got this palette was because of the UDPP

Last but not least is MUFE face and body foundation. I have Mat Velvet + and love it.

I also got a Fedora and waist coat finally. Also some tops for work and clubbing. emoticon Thats my christmas present for myself this year cos im broke and this is the best i could do :(

Oh, i got twists on sunday!

MiscellanousNovember 3, 2007 11:50 am

So i started in Men’s shoes yesterday. Its a little different so i have to start re-learning some stuff. Its kinda easier to sell to men. Just need to get them to put the shoes on their feet. I hope i like it. If i dont, i will transfer somewhere else asap. Ive been busy with school, work…and dating. Some pretty interesting dates lately. Including this guy i had a crush on. We go to the same school and are in the same communication class. That was a reminder that i dont like anyone younger than 25…he was 22 btw. First time i ever went out with someone i go to the same school as and ill never do it again. Now i have to find a way to tell him im not interested or ignore nice without it turning into drama.

I havent bought anything spectacular lately and i probably wont until next year when i get my own place. Im trying to move out and its hard to find a place that is both reasonably priced and in a good neighborhood.

MiscellanousOctober 24, 2007 12:36 pm

I had been looking for oxfords for a while with no luck. I tried on a few pairs and most of them did not look good on me. They looked great on other people except me. I realised that all the ones i tried had stiletto heels so i decided to try one with a chunky heel. I was at Bakers trying on the MMDSMJ knock offs when i saw something else that looked better on and even the SA confirmed. So i got them both.

Well, i know im supposed to take pics of my outfits everyday and keep up with it but ive been busy. Staying in today so im just going to do a few returns and exchanges and come straight back home cos no more shopping. I had to pay for the red light ticket today emoticon. Here are the pics anyway just for the fun of it. Effing cameras:

Here’s my OOTD. Just to go to class. Plain aeropostale t-shirt, hat from Filene’s basement and the skinny jeans i got from F21:

Carried my grey handbag from bakers and book bag.

And yep thats my new hair. More pics:

the boss loved it and i got a lot of compliments at work and school.

MiscellanousSeptember 24, 2007 8:06 pm

Uh….so i skipped class because the instructor was sick and drove down to the discovery mills mall. I went to Saks off 5th and got only a pair of tights and a pair of stockings because we have to start wearing it at work starting next month. Went to NM last chance and there was nothing that appealed to me except these pair of Gucci pumps that were on sale for 450. Uh…no way.

I didnt even know there was a F21 there until i was leaving. I had never been to one before so i went there, got a black dress, 1 pair of brown pants, 1 pair of dark, skinny jeans, dark blue satin top to wear with my high waist pants, and a layered, ruffled top.

I also got a pair of suspenders from a BSS.

Oh i got a sew in weave for the first time ever and its itchy and hot. Its very curly and big. Dont know if i like it. Might not last a week.

MiscellanousSeptember 23, 2007 10:23 pm

I woke up early on saturday to go to this Goodwill store in Tucker. I heard they have nice stuff. I have 3 thrift stores in my area and they all suck so i drove to the one that’s 40 minutes away. I was able to get 8 tops, 1 wool scarf and a pair of leather gloves all for 40 bucks.

There is this leather jacket that is haunting me….i have been buying shoes lately and now i have to focus on outfits. So i might take pics of the jacket in the dressing room and ask for opinions before buying. It is really feminine and is thicker than my lambskin one.

Miscellanous, Fashion and ShoppingSeptember 20, 2007 9:32 pm

Who knew purple tights would be so hard to find? Well, if you have a budget, it will be. I needed a few in different shades of purple no more than 5.99. I went to filene’s basement, macys, nordstrom, marshalls, tjmaxx, bakers and finally wet seal. I never been to wet seal and that was where i was able to get them eventually. I was also able to find a grey bag to go with my Kate Spades. I went to this store that might be new and got a green mini dress and a corset or whatever the hell it is. Took some pics:

The bag and the tights:

Oh, i called Tmobile a few minutes ago and they changed my cell phone number. Now that creepy 65 year old will not be able to call and leave stupid messages.
